Both groups meet on Wednesday evenings in central Ongar during term time, giving local girls the chance to enjoy new experiences in a friendly and supportive environment. Girlguiding describes its programme as a place for girls to grow in confidence, learn new skills and explore everything from creativity and outdoor adventures to teamwork and community activities.
1st Ongar Brownies – Ages 7 to 10
Brownies is all about having fun, making friends and discovering new interests.
The girls enjoy a huge variety of activities, from games and crafts to learning new skills and getting outdoors. It’s a great opportunity to try things they may never have done before, earn badges and enjoy being part of a group where everyone can get involved.
1st Ongar Brownies welcomes girls aged 7–10 and meets on Wednesday evenings during term time.

1st Ongar & Fyfield Guides – Ages 10 to 14
As girls get older, Guides gives them even more opportunities to explore their interests, develop independence and take on new challenges.
Activities can include everything from cooking and crafts to camping, outdoor adventures, games, fundraising, learning new skills and trying completely new experiences.
Guides is designed to be a relaxed and welcoming environment where girls aged 10–14 can have fun, be themselves and spend time with friends while developing skills and confidence along the way.
