The Ince Family Step Up for St Clare Hospice: Sahara Trek Fundraiser
We’re proud to shine a spotlight on the Ince family - Carla and Dean, well-known to many as the previous Landlady and Landlord of The White Hart in Moreton. Over the years, Carla and Dean have been at the heart of our community, always ready to help others and raise money for local charities. This time, they’re taking on a challenge that’s truly out of their comfort zone, and they need our support more than ever.
In honour of their dear friend ‘Big John’ - a much-loved regular at The White Hart, Carla, Dean, and their family are raising funds for St Clare Hospice. ‘Big John’ was more than just a patron; he became a close friend to the Ince family, and his memory is inspiring them to make a real difference.
Four of Ince family - Carla, Dean, Sydnee & Joe - will soon be trekking the Sahara Desert together. With the support of Max and Halle fundraising. It’s a huge adventure and an incredible act of generosity, all in aid of a cause close to their hearts.
Why St Clare Hospice?
Since leaving The White Hart, Carla has continued her tradition of giving back by volunteering at the wonderful St Clare Hospice charity shop right here on Ongar High Street. Her commitment to supporting local causes and helping others hasn’t wavered - she’s a familiar, friendly face in the shop, always ready to lend a hand and make a difference for St Clare Hospice and our community.
St Clare Hospice provides compassionate care, support, and comfort to people with life-limiting illnesses and their families. Their work touches lives in profound ways, but it comes at a cost: it takes £8.1 million each year to run the hospice— £16,421 every single day. While some funding comes from the government, the majority relies on generous supporters.
Here’s how your donation can make a difference:
- £25 could pay for a social care assessment, benefits & care advice
- £160 could pay to run the entire Inpatient Unit for one hour
- £207 could pay for physiotherapy treatment for patients for one day
Every step the Ince family take across the Sahara is to ensure that St Clare Hospice can continue delivering care, comfort, and dignity to those who need it most.
If you’d like to support the Ince family on this journey and help them raise money for St Clare Hospice, you can donate via their JustGiving page
Let’s show Carla, Dean, Sydnee, & Joe how much our community appreciates their kindness and determination. Every donation, big or small, will help them reach their goal and support the amazing work of St Clare Hospice.
